Explore the latest interior trends at Bassetts from bright and bold to industrial chic
Hues of blue
Give your bathroom a bit of character by adding a splash of colour to your sanitaryware or cabinets. Forget the avocado shades of the 70’s, the modern take on coloured baths and basins is for bolder pigments of blue which add offer a cooler alternative to white and look great teamed with chrome or gold brassware.
“Mixing this trend with some clean white furniture or neutral textured stone surfaces will ensure the boldness of a coloured bathroom won’t be too overpowering,” says Klaire McCann, one of Bassetts’ bathroom specialists.
Exposed industrial styles have been growing in popularity in recent years, with features like concrete-look floors, rustic cabinets and exposed metal piping.
One of the most striking designs for this style of bathroom is the Crittall-style shower screen. With its black-edged, grid design frames, it offers a more modern, urban feel than plain glass and creates a real aesthetic feature for any urban chic bathroom space.
Dark and moody
“Dark interiors look and feel more interesting and sophisticated,” says Klaire. “We are seeing more and more people move away from the traditional all-white look to embrace a more dramatic colour scheme which can be calming, and relaxing.”
Some might worry that dark colours make a room feel smaller, but there are many great design tricks which ensure this isn’t the case. Copper or golden accents in brassware, mirrors and even in plant pots will brighten the space and balance out dark colours. Similarly, a pop of bright colour such as green or yellow is perfect for breaking up dark, contemporary interiors.
If you don’t want to replace your entire bathroom or kitchen, or if you want to give your entrance ways a refresh, tiles offer the ideal solution and can create an immediate new look for any space.
Bassetts tile specialist, Mel Gribbon, says “The choice of colour, design, material and finish available is constantly growing and is a really popular and cost-effective way to revamp your home. We regularly work with customers to help them select the perfect tile. The transformation is always so impressive.”
From geometric to Victorian, concrete to wood-look, there is a vast array of tile options which will create a striking floor space.
